what is the MAGS EXPERIENCE?

The Mags Experience (Acronym for Mar Adriatico GranSasso), is a Bikepacking Trail connecting our Adriatic Sea to the Gran Sasso D’Italia. You will cross ancient villages, unspoilt plateaus and colourful hills. All this you can discover, including art, history and traditions in a single bike trip, all on your own. You will have points of interest on gpx and paper maps, where you can stop for a rest, refreshments and to discover the wonders of Abruzzo. Suitable for both mountain bikes and gravel bikes, with two different routes to enhance the user experience in the area.

  • Classic: 280 km with 5300 m of elevation gain. Perfect for a weekend, offering an intense yet accessible adventure through national parks and historic villages.
  • Explorer: 460 km with 7500 m of elevation gain. A complete experience for the more adventurous, from the Gran Sasso to the Majella and down to the Costa dei Trabocchi.

Both routes are suitable for gravel bikes, MTB, and e-bikes, ensuring a customizable and accessible experience for riders of different skill levels.

THE TERRITORY

Located in central southern Italy, Abruzzo stretches from the heart of the central Apennines to the Adriatic Sea, on a predominantly mountainous and wild territory. Its morphology constitutes a paradise for continental flora and fauna; about 75 per cent of European species are located in our region. Abruzzo is one of the greenest regions of the old continent, the extent of its natural heritage is immense, just think that in this small peninsular region there are three national parks, one regional park, 38 protected areas between regional oases and state reserves. In total, 36.3% of the regional territory is under environmental protection. Abruzzo, the biker’s paradise.
